Our story
Eight hotels in buildings with a past, run by people who love where they are.
Vellacourt began in 1994 with one townhouse in Mayfair and a simple idea: a grand hotel should feel like the best kind of private house. Thirty years on we have eight, six of them in Britain and two across the Channel.
How we choose a hotel
Every Vellacourt is in a building that was loved before we found it, in a place worth the journey. We restore rather than replace, and we hire locally: our general managers live within walking distance of their hotels.
Looking after the places we love
We buy from farms and fisheries near each hotel, heat our country houses with ground-source heat pumps and biomass, and have given up single-use plastic in every room.
