Cotswolds, Gloucestershire
A Queen Anne manor in 300 acres of Cotswold parkland
Welcome to Hartswell
A red-brick manor at the end of a lime avenue, with a walled kitchen garden, an outdoor pool and a village pub at the gate. Dogs welcome in the house, and wellies at the door.
A restaurant that cooks what the gardeners pick that morning.
The village pub at the estate gate: real ale, a fire and a Sunday roast.
Heated all year, with steam rising off it in winter.

The story
Hartswell was built in 1702 for a wool merchant and stayed in one family for nearly three centuries. The walled garden they planted still feeds the kitchen, and the orangery is where the family held their summer parties.
Today it has 42 rooms in the house and the old stables, a spa in the former laundry, and 300 acres to walk.
Eat and drink
A glasshouse restaurant in the walled garden. The menu changes daily with what’s been picked.

Spa
The old estate laundry, now an indoor pool with garden views, an outdoor pool heated all year, and six treatment rooms.
